Meet the team
Our office team are based in Saffron Walden, to the south of Cambridge, supporting our operations out of both Norwich and in Cambridge.. There are eight of us based here and our role is to ensure that the service we provide meets the expectations for our school and council partners, our private families and the tutors we work with. We also have two Education Consultants who complete the consultations which kick off the process in matching the right tutors across the team with the private families. One of the goals of these initial consultations, and all the work we do with local schools is to reassure students, parents and teachers that they are in very good hands. And we absolutely say you are.
Directors
Rob Kerrison
Rob started the business back in 2010, after a career in Sales and Marketing for large multinational companies. This was the first time that Rob had run his own business and loves the freedom it provides to really deliver the kind of service that is not always possible in a corporate environment.
Rob continues to lead the team with Lynne, and manages the marketing, and whilst still very hands-on with most elements of the day to day, his focus is increasingly on the development of the business, in particular with schools and delivering the requirements for the National Tutoring Programme.
Lynne Kerrison
Lynne’s got a very strong background in business too, having worked for many years at Tesco to senior positions within their HR function.
For Tutor Doctor, Lynne leads the operational side of things within the office including financial matters and the various processes that must be in place to ensure everything runs as it should. Lynne and Rob first worked together when they were on the same Business degree course at University and, some 30 years later teamed up again. To be fair they’ve been a pretty decent team in between times too; who says husbands and wives can’t work together…?
Recruitment
Georgina O’Hara Smith
Georgina looks after the recruitment side of things, constantly looking
to add to our growing squads of tutors in Cambridge and Norwich and also
the specialist online team. Georgina is the first member of team that
new tutors get to know when they work through the application and onboarding
process. Georgina has been involved with the business herself for over
ten years, the majority of that time as a tutor, but then switched to
the central support team in 2020 when a vacancy came up for this role.
We were delighted to be able to keep things in house, Georgina has an
excellent background in education and in business and brings energy and
rigour to her role and we’re delighted to have her on the central team.
Families Team
Natalie Norman
Natalie joined us in October 2022, working within the Families team on
tutor matching and dealing with customer enquiries and ongoing support.
Natalie again has a really interesting background with a raft of experiences
across different industries and presents the positive and can-do attitude,
always with a smile on her face that we have running through the team.
Jane Saja
Jane works alongside Angie in the customer team and is a more recent addition,
joining us in 2021 after the joys of lockdowns passed and left us needing
to increase the capacity of the team to service the growth in demand.
Interestingly, Jane’s background was all in nursing and her skills in being able to cope with change, learning new skills and most importantly being able to communicate with others effectively have been directly translated to her work here with the team.
Schools and Council Team
Lindsaye Costen
Lindsaye was the first new member of the team to work purely on the Schools
and Council side of the business. Lindsaye is the contact for our school
partners in and around Cambridge ensuring that the programmes are organised
and structured appropriately and that the desired outcomes for the students
are achieved. Lindsaye also is the main point person for our work with
Cambridgeshire County Council, working with students who are out of school
for various reasons.
Lindsaye’s background is in children’s publishing and journalism including a long involvement with educational newspaper First News and four years working for children’s education charity Achievement for All. She got to know Lynne during a five-year stint as a school governor and, when she decided to give up her long commute to work, was quickly persuaded to join the team here.
Lisa Jeremy
With Tutor Doctor Cambridge successful application to be part of the Department
for Education’s National Tutoring Programme, Rob and Lindsaye found
themselves somewhat overwhelmed for demand for our services and brought
in Lisa who properly hit the ground running and has been an excellent
addition to the central school support team.
Lisa is the key liaison for school partners a little further afield, mainly via the NTP but also from schools we are working with in Norwich.
Again, Lisa brings a wealth of experience across different industries. In 2006, Lisa qualified as a Counsellor and most recently worked as a Co-ordinator for an organisation providing therapists to provide mental health and wellbeing support for children, teens, individuals and families and prior to that for a local charity, supporting vulnerable families, both of which brings a valuable dimension to her role and the team at Tutor Doctor.
Belinda Davidson
Belinda is the newest member of the support team, becoming our third School
Liaison Manager, so the point person for our ever increasing school and
council partners and for the tutors working on these programmes. Belinda
is increasingly focusing her time on the Council side of our service,
managing programmes with Cambridgeshire and Norfolk County Council colleagues
and managing the delivery for children who find themselves outside of
mainstream education
Before working here, Belinda's background was all in event management and she's some fantastic experiences to lean on in the work she's now doing here. She has slotted into things brilliantly by being organised, committed and very human in how she goes about her work in meeting the needs and expectations of everyone involved in the programmes she is managing.
Education Consultants
Ceri Thomas
Ceri has been working with us since 2014, initially just tutoring, but
in 2016 Ceri started carrying out the in-home consultations as well and
it’s something she loves doing: meeting the students (albeit online
now) and understanding their situation so that we can start the journey
in getting the right solution in place.
Ceri’s background is in Science. Ceri had 34 years’ experience of teaching science in state and independent secondary schools and taught for 14 years at Hills Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge. She has also had links with primary schools where she has done some supply teaching and primary liaison work. Ceri has taught students ranging from 7 to 19 across all ability ranges, but is enjoying her semi-retirement. (Although we are keeping her rather busy doing this!)
Clare Neal
Clare first came across Tutor Doctor as a customer, when we met Clare and
her daughter at a consultation in their home for some A-Level Maths tuition.
Several months later we got talking and Clare explained how much she liked
what we do and that she’d be interested in being part of it, if
ever any opportunities arose. And here we are. Clare’s background
is in media, and after several years in radio and television journalism,
she shifted to teaching and has been lecturing Media Studies and more
recently core study skills at Anglia Ruskin for nearly 25 years now.
Clare has taken a career shift to in recent times and is in the process of gaining her qualifications in Counselling. Clare has been an excellent addition to our team of consultants, sharing our passion for helping students be the best they can be and just having that desire to provide really excellent service to our customers. After all, this was her experience as a customer.
