Tutor Doctor Thame was launched in May 2019 by Chris after a successful career developing children's consumer products, where he worked for both The Walt Disney Company and Viacom (now Paramount). Based on this experience, and with 2 young twin boys of his own, Chris knew that he wanted to launch a business that would make a positive difference in children's lives for years to come.

We know from our own experience how stressful it can be trying to find support for your children, as well as just how individual every child can be. We have worked extremely hard to assemble an outstanding group of dedicated, highly qualified tutors, who are able to support each child's bespoke needs. 

With over 1000 hours of tuition delivered locally across all ages and abilities (including 11+), we've seen first hand the difference that highly effective tuition can make to our students academic achievement and self-confidence. 

My name is Gill and I have been a fully qualified Primary school teacher for over twenty years. I enjoy personalising lessons for each learner which makes the lesson enjoyable. I have helped children with catch up lessons and 11+ tutoring. I like to ensure children are confident to ask questions and are not afraid of making mistakes and make sure that they understand that we all learn from our mistakes.

Over the past 38 years I have worked in many roles in the education sector but my first love has always been working in the classroom with students.

The COVID Pandemic has meant that I have had to adapt in these times and I have been lucky enough to be able to translate my skills seamlessly to a virtual setting, having tutored a number of students face-to-face and online over the past 16 months.

As I reach retirement I believe that my experience and love for teaching will stand me in good stead to tutor students to help them reach their academic potential, especially in these current circumstances. I teach a range of subjects from Biology for GCSE and A level students. English from Y7 – GCSE. Maths Y6 -Y8.

I have been tutoring maths for over two years now and have been working with students from year 3 all the way up A-level. I enjoy this job immensely as there is a very rewarding feeling when you are the person to make a student understand a topic or when their confidence for the subject increases.

In fact, after graduating from the University of Surrey for Maths, I realised that I had been enjoying tutoring so much that I am now on a teacher training course so that I can become a maths teacher.
