Personalised, one-to-one tutoring in Peterborough

It starts with a free, no obligation consultation where we learn about your child’s goals, current levels, exam dates and how they like to learn. We also discuss whether you prefer in-home or online tutoring and when sessions should take place. Based on this, we match your child with one of our local tutors who fits their personality, subject needs and schedule. We support primary, GCSE and A-Level across core subjects such as Maths, English and Sciences, plus 11+ preparation in selective areas only. Once you are happy with the match, we book the first one-to-one session. After every lesson you receive a session report so you can see progress and next steps. We serve families across Peterborough and nearby towns including Hampton, Orton, Werrington, Bretton, Stanground, Yaxley, Whittlesey, Stamford and Oundle.

Your child’s plan follows the UK National Curriculum and their school’s sequencing. For primary pupils we build reading, writing and Maths skills in line with Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 expectations and SATs. For secondary students we teach to the correct GCSE or A-Level exam board and focus on the exact specification, command words and exam technique your child will face. We plan revision around the UK academic year, including the Easter holidays and the May to June exam window. If you live near grammar school areas, we can also support 11+ preparation in those selective regions only. Our local tutors keep up with any changes to requirements so your child is learning what matters for their school and exams.

Matching is at the heart of what we do. During the consultation we learn about your child’s targets, confidence level, learning style and interests. We then recommend a tutor with the right subject expertise and a personality your child can relate to. Availability and practical details like preferred days and whether sessions are in-home or online are also considered. If anything is not quite right, tell us and we will adjust. Families tell us the match is what makes the difference. One Peterborough parent said, “My daughter has learnt more in a few tutoring sessions with Tutor Doctor than she did in 3 months of secondary school.”

After every session you receive a written report that summarises what was covered, how your child responded and specific next steps. For exam classes we map work to the specification and planned assessments, and we include regular check points such as past paper questions and timed practice. We keep in touch to review goals and adapt the plan when needed. Many parents notice practical changes at home too, such as more independent homework and better revision habits.

Yes. We regularly support students with a wide range of learning differences and additional needs. One-to-one tutoring allows us to tailor pace, content and teaching style so sessions feel achievable and positive. We coordinate with what school is doing where helpful and we focus on confidence as well as curriculum targets. Tell us what works for your child and we will build it into the plan.

We understand the pressure of GCSE preparation. After your free consultation we move to matching and sessions as soon as possible. The plan focuses on the highest impact topics, exam technique and steady past paper practice. We also plan around the UK academic calendar and exam periods, so every session counts. While outcomes vary, many students make clear gains when they follow a focused plan and attend weekly one-to-one sessions.
