The Beginning

In 2019, Shinnel Paras and Moses Kabba found themselves as the ‘newcomers’ to a secondary academy in North London. Instantly bonding over their passion for education and their desire to impact the lives of young people, they made a promise to one another that they would one day be the drivers of an organisation that put children at the heart of every decision.

‘Changing the trajectory of young people’s lives’ is the vision of Tutor Doctor. Both Shinnel and Moses were instantly inspired by the Canadian model and made the decision to bring the North American brand to Milton Keynes; a place much much more than roundabouts and shopping centres, but Shinnel’s home town.

Our Journey

In 2020, just as Moses promised, he introduced Shinnel to Tutor Doctor by inviting her to a meeting with the Director of International Franchise Development – it appealed to her on so many levels! The biggest attraction being about empowering young people through innovative education, something that had been an internal driver for not just Shinnel, but Moses too. With a combined 25 years of experience in education, they felt like Tutor Doctor was a perfect fit.

So Shinnel and Moses left successful their careers as Head of Sixth Form and Associate Principal respectively. Putting their motto ‘always stronger together’ to the test as they invested in creating a business they could both be proud of. With Shinnel transitioning into motherhood, there was never going to be a ‘right time’ – but when is there ever!?

Tutor Doctor Milton Keynes will always be a local business primarily dedicated to providing a professional and bespoke tutoring service. We have exceptionally high standards for ourselves and our tutors, and by using our unique way of establishing the needs of the child/individual we agree the goals and set the targets together. We then match the child/individual and the family to their specialised tutor. We do this through an honest discussion.

We believe that exceptional tutoring is not mass testing or completing a series of worksheets, one hoop after another. We believe that exceptional tutoring is about building the confidence of the child/individual to maximize their outcome. Building confidence means building educational knowledge and discipline to support the process of application. This leads a sustainable improvement in a subject area or in assessments. We know that this is best achieved one to one and in a place where the child/individual is assured, which is usually the home.

The child/individual will always be our focus and our tutors are truly exceptional experts in their field. We deliver a solution that works best for all parties, and guarantee success. This is our niche.

Our office is in Central Milton Keynes, in the new Spaces at Avebury Boulevard. This is where our team manages the recruitment and training of tutors, as well as school’s liaison and other support divisions.

Covid -1921

Tutoring continues to take place online, we are also permitted to use our new office breakout at Space’s, Milton Keynes keeping with the government guidelines. As soon as it is safe to do so we will be transferring to one to one in the home. We also offer a mixture of online and one to one depending on what works best for the child/individual.
